Using your Intuition as a Life Compass

Most people have heard the term intuition. Every one of us has a gift called intuition. However, not every one knows how to use this gift.

It is my intent that after reading this article, you will know how to tap into and use your intuition for the betterment of your life.

Intuition is defined in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary as, "a natural ability or power that makes it possible to know something without any proof or evidence : a feeling that guides a person to act a certain way without fully understanding why."

Intuition is our inner voice. Intuition is our internal wisdom that is always connected to the truth. Intuition sees past fear. Intuition is connected to our heart center and it is always right in the present moment. It is indeed a power, but only when we learn to listen and follow our Intuition. Intuition is a powerful under-utilized tool that can be utilized to create an amazing life. Using Intuition in your daily life will help you live your life consciously. Living a conscious life creates more love and joy within you and has a domino effect on those around you.

Living in this physical world, each of us is blessed with a myriad of choices every single day. Each choice that we make produces an outcome. How many of you have made the wrong choice, even after hours of careful thought and consideration? How many of you have followed your instinct and things turned out for the best?

Cartographers have divided the world according to four cardinal directions. North, East, South and West. When we want get to somewhere new, we use these cardinal direction to reach our destination. You can use the Sun for determining orientation if you know approximately what time it is, or you can use a compass. Think of Intuition as your internal compass which can lead you to the best direction in your life at that moment.

Your Intuition is your gut instinct. If you feel that you have trouble hearing your inner voice, Meditation can help clear the noise in your mind, so that you can tap into your Intuition easier.

An example of listening to your Intuition is when you come across a pathway in your life at which a choice must be made. It can be as simple as which route to take to work in the morning. You may find yourself feeling that it may be a mistake to take the freeway that day, even though you take it every day to get to work. When I get a feeling like that, I follow it. Let's say you choose to ignore your feeling, and take the freeway only to learn that there was an accident that has caused a lot of traffic that you are now smack dab in the middle of.

Another example of your inner voice speaking to you is when you meet someone new and something in your gut tells you to not keep hanging out with this person. Maybe your body even feels drained after leaving the presence of this individual. Let's say, they call and ask you to hang out again? If you follow your intuition, you will say no. However, if you don't learn how to tune in, then you just may agree to hang out. Eventually, you find out, after spending precious time and energy on this friendship, that it isn't a good relationship for you.

You can also use your intuition when making choices about what to eat and whether a certain food will be the highest good for you.

A tool you can use to strengthen your intuition and to develop a stronger "energy muscle" that will help you tune in easier is a pendulum. There are many articles on-line about pendulums. Here is an easy to understand article that is a good start called, "Using a Pendulum to Enhance Intuition."

Start tuning into your intuition at least once a day for the next month and write down what you hear and what choices you make as a result of that. After a month, you may begin to notice shifts beginning to take place in your life.
